As Anna and Michael continued their journey through Cartagena, they became more aware of the importance of asking for permission in various social situations. Later that afternoon, they decided to visit a small, family-run restaurant known for its authentic coastal cuisine. The restaurant was crowded, and most tables were occupied. Spotting an empty seat at a table where a local woman was sitting alone, Anna hesitated for a moment and then politely asked:
"Excuse me, would it be alright if we sit here?"
The woman looked up, smiled warmly, and nodded:
"Of course, you’re welcome to join me."
Feeling relieved, Anna and Michael sat down, and soon, they found themselves engaged in a friendly conversation with the woman, who introduced herself as Doña Carmen. She was a lifelong Cartagena resident and was happy to share stories about the city’s culture and traditions.
